Vendula Circus Coin Purses

Vendula London Circus Coin Purse Circus Ticket Fortune Teller
Recently I have been contacted by Vendula again and got to choose something of their website to show you. I really love their products and am quite happy with the quality. So, I decided to go for two Coin Purses from the Circus Collection.

Vendula Circus Clip Fastening Fortune Teller Coin Purse

Personally I do not use regular wallets anymore since my last one (a Vendula one matching my Boutique Bag) has been stolen/lost in Venice. So for about a year I had a small handmade clip fastening coin purse that had a lovely 20s charme, however you know how it is – every once in a while you want to change things up, so the Vendula Circus Clip Fastening Fortune Teller Coin Purse was a great choice for me. The material is quite sturdy and the fastening with those adorable flowers is very secure (after all you don’t want to pick the coins from the bottom of your purse). It is big enough for all the currencies I tested and additionally you can carry your cards with you. Of course you should not put twenty cards inside, but you can easily fit in at least five. I’m also pretty sure it’s big enough for a compact mirror.

Besides the rather big size for a coin purse it’s main feature is obviously the stunning design. The details are handsewn and I cannot get over the glitter crystal ball and the little gold stars. Even the lining matches the Circus theme, it’s red and white stripes and I think it’s a lovely finshing touch.

Vendula Circus Ticket Zipped Coin Purse

The other one is the Vendula Circus Ticket Zipped Coin Purse, it’s 15*10 cm and almost like a clutch. Well, I will definitely use it as such. The soze is big enough for my mobile, so it’s perfect if you just want to have the bare necessities on you. It has extra compartments for three cards and a keychain to fasten it to your bag or to fasten your keys to the purse. Like all of their bags it’s made from high quality faux leather that feels great.

I think the design has such a Vintage Charme and even though I do not really approve of the circus itself due to the treatment of the animals, I like the design aspect and artistry of circuses and performers. And I think this bag perfectly captures this carnival vibe with every little detail.

Both of them would have been less than 25 Pound each which is a very acceptable price for a high quality purse with this kind of detailing in my opinion. Shipping has always been very easy and fast for me as a costumer.

Vendula Bags Circus Boutique
So far I never had any issues with any of the details of my bags being damaged, therefore I really recommend having a look at the stunning designs. The only thing that happened to me is the railing on the faux leather chipped of at two of my bag’s handles over time, however I could fix that with some glue.
The ones above are my bags I collected over the last few years and you can find out more about them here:
Vendula Chocolatiers Grab Bag
Vendula Snowflake Barrel Bag (this one has been sent to me as well)
Vendula Boutique Box Bag
Vendula Sewing Shop Pouch/Wash Bag (the one I use most of the time currently)
Vendula Sewing Shop Mini Purse
Vendula London Bags
The black purses and the Black Bag are my mum’s – you see we are quite taken with these wonderful designs.

Vendula London kindly send me the two Circus Coin Purses in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

While I was considering naming this post Sugar, we’re going down swinging for the sole reason that I currently listen to old Fall Out Boy albums – and who could blame me? They are amazing -, I thought this fit a lot better. Yesterday I went to Kochel (will posta a few photos of the town and my walk later), because sometimes I just want to get out and wander. You know, I miss Holmenkollen a lot (will blog about that, too), because it was perfect for wandering around. The air was chilly and it was very calming to me.

Then again, I think wandering alone always helps me to sort my thoughts and makes me feel a lot better. If something is up, going out into nature helps me, focus on what is important and go through all the aspects. Living in a city, I usually have to take the train (there are parks, but I also love to take the train and really get out in that way too) to get somewhere to wander about. I love staying home, reading and watching tv shows, but these trips also feel very special as well.

Since I live in Bavaria there are tons of lakes and mountains around and since I am getting into hiking and all this stuff, I really want to visit a few more of the mountains – well, I went to lot of them as a kid, but I want to visit them once more. Obviously this dress is the perfect dress to hike/wander – while I’d usually prefer a pair of pants, this dress truly is quite nice. Also, I think it looks a lot like a dress young girls back in the day would have worn to stroll through the woods/mountains. It’s no Sissi dress, but close enough to what I feel like might be a 40s wanderer dress. And it made me enjoy my “hike” even more, especially since back home a woman told me I’d look unearthly beautiful, which caught me really of guard and was so cute of her.

six Instagram accounts I like at the moment.

Today I have a couple of lovely Instagram ladies for you. They all have fantastic feeds and I’d highly recommend having a look. Of course, I’d also enjoy reading about your favourites! I started following all of them in the last couple weeks, so this list doesn’t include my all time favourites.

Anyone else out there who constantly has to remind themselves it's okay to be feminine — when the world constantly tries to make you believe otherwise? Internalized misogyny, ahhh, please leave me be. I want to embrace my femininity, not hide it, nor be ashamed or silenced. I want to wear silly, frilly dresses and feel with a thousand hearts and still be allowed to have my words, never to be dismissed. 🌷 #feminism #empowerment #femininity #floraldress #spring #springfashion #curlyhair #redhead P.S. Perspective distortion or foreshortening is a funny thing. My other arm, the one closer to the camera looks like it's 5 meters long where as the other one is shorter than life itself. @jerianie is a Finnish Illustrator with a fantastic taste. I think it’s so cute and very distinct with spring and autumn colours. So if you’re into yellow, wine red and light pink, I bet you will enjoy her photos. She also writes fantastic, inspirational captions concerning feminism and body positivity.

@taylor_on_tour is a very Disneyland themed account with Taylor’s adorable Disneybounds and Cosplays. Additionally she (almost) always smiles in her photos and it’s very contagious.

@daily.disney.dreaming is another Disney-ish account (hence the name). Her Disneybounds are very creative and both retro and super cute. She has this fantastic Miss Fisher hair cut and just a wonderful charisma in her photos.

Back to work in Egypt at rock inscription sites in the hinterland of Elkab. On the right, I am checking the scaffolding we will use in order to record inscriptions at a previously unknown site that John discovered yesterday, and on the left, he is copying an inscription at a site further south (using a tablet computer and our new epigraphic method). I am wearing a vintage panama hat and 1970s vintage Neiman Marcus safari ensemble from @sultryvintage (who aptly described it as "Annie Hall meets Indiana Jones"). This period of work in Egypt has produced some exciting results—more information, and a few short videos to come. As a modest preliminary celebration we visited Aswan on the weekend, and I took the opportunity to wear some vintage items around the famous and fabulous Cataract Hotel in Aswan (@sofitellegendoldcataract). The hotel was constructed 1899, and has been host both to Agatha Christie (for whom one of the suites is now named), as well as to the 1978 filming of her "Death on the Nile," with the garden façade serving for one hotel, and the imposing Nile front representing itself. In these shots (on the north side of the front, on the front terrace, and on the balcony of one of the rooms), I am wearing a late 1920s sheer peach chiffon dress with matching crop jacket and floral detailing (from @astralboutique). In the third photograph, in the background, is the southern tip of the island of Elephantine, site of a major First Dynasty fortification (ca. 3000 BCE), and continuous stratigraphy of human activity through the Graeco-Roman Period … more to come. #egyptologist #vintagehotel #truevintage #1920s #1920sdress #flapperdress #sofitellegendoldcataract #agathachristie #bobbedhair #egypt #Nile #aswan #elephantine #vintagetravel #oldcataract #1920sfashion #truevintageootd

Can I just say this dress feels like a mix of a cupcake and a prom dress? It’s very much the embodiement of prom dress dreams. Well, I never had such dreams, because where I live neither prom nor homecoming is a thing and we don’t celebrate any balls – besides one after graduating our version of high school. And that is more like sitting around, waiting for the report you already saw a couple o’ days before and then some drinking and dancing. It doesn’t feel like something John Hughes would include in a movie. This dress however, Iona might have worn it (and Andie would have destroyed it to create a prom dress).

In the last couple of weeks I have been a lot into pastels, while mainly listening to Fall Out Boy (by the way, I actually like the new song, I think it’s very intense and will be very interesting live). Which kind of clashes, but I don’t mind, it amuses me in a way – looking like a fairy, but having some emo and alternative tunes playing. 27 and Thnks fr th Mmrs are constantly stuck in my head and especially with the first I can quote it almost completly, the sad thing is I want to use a lot of the lyrics in daily life, but, you know, translated no one gets the reference (and, of course, I also have one friend actually listening to the band as well).

Recently my mood has been pretty much a rollercoaster, I have had a lot of ups and downs for no particular reason and on no-so-good days, it always feels a bit weird to look at those happy Tinkerbell meets Goldilocks photos I took just a day or two ago. Additionally I have been dealing with a cold for about two or three weeks and that does not really make me feel any better. I am happy about the spring sun and flowers however, even though I do not always feel like leaving the house (being heavy on introversion and feeling ill is not the best combination). Especially with feeling unwell/ill I feel like I’m even more sensitive than usual, not only emotionally, but very intensely when it comes to visual impressions.

It’s hard to talk about feeling unhappy when you do not even know th reason for it yourself. And when it all might be forgotten the next day. I’m thinking it’s someting to do with hormones or neurotransmitters.
Besides that I also stumbled across and old (and unfortunately no longer active) blog of mine, the girl never gets older and felt like listening to some classic rock again and fell down the rabbit hole towards the 40s-60s as well. Also, funnily enough writing this I want to dress like a teddy girl, you know like in those Ken Russell photos. There is this photo, I have both a crush on this girl and want to lok like her. Maybe I’ll try a bit more teddy girl – but then again, I also want some french lady vibes, a bit of rock’n’roll and never forget the pastel fairy side.

It is indeed May the Fourth again.
On of my favourite things about Star Wars are the droids. And how could they not? They are literally non-human companions/best friends. There is not much I’d be more happy about if scientist would develope than droids like in Star Wars. The thing is they have such unique personalities that get along without proper words (unless you consider Beep Boop Beep Boop words). Personally I consider BB-8 too be very cheeky, coy and sarcastic, after all BB and R2 are practically best buddies – well Threepio and Artoo are forever best friends, we all know that, but I still think BB-8 and R2-D2 have a special connection as well.

The difficult thing for me is posing for a BB-8 cosplay after all I am not a droid, so my posing is a more human – even though I am no stranger to awkward robotic movements, they don’t qualify as droid movements. Also, did you know BB-8 was suposedly a girl in early drafts (as far as you can put a gender on droids)? I kind of think that fits quite well and for me, BB-8 is a she – however I considered Boba Fett to be female as well for quite some time and doesn’t that make sense? Also, there are a lot of amazing fem!Boba Fett Cosplays, so they add to that idea.

Anyway, I could never pick a favourite droid, they all have their qualities and I’d just like having my own companion strolling along beside me. We would be very good at stamping on Darth Vader or returning to Jakku (Why does everyone want to go back to Jakku?! you knowww). Though I really have to say I prefer the stamping on Vader part, because I never was a big fan of Anakin (except the scenes when Anakin is a kid). Sure, he has my sympathies, but then again I like almost every Star Wars character, because all of them are so elaborate and even though it’s a system of good/evil, most are much rather somewhere on a scale of grey.

what I got in Scandinavia

scandinavia finds haul what i got
AS you know I travelled almost all of April, I was home for only about three/four days, so now a lot of the upcoming content will be from those travels through Scandinavia (+ the Netherlands). However it might take some time to go through the pictures and edit them. The easiest is showing you my shopping finds. I did not get a lot of things for me and some of them were needed (adapter, gloves…) or wanted for some time, so here goes…

Amsterdam Finds
Amsterdam I wanted to get into E.A. Poe by reading the Penguin Little Black Classic Tell Tale Heart, which I found at Waterstones, and I hope to follow up with something more than just short stories, because for me it had a certain appeal, but I wasn’t that much into it. However I am very much into my Laura Dols Beret, it is so very lovely and now I want to wear berets every day and in every colour imaginable. I was planning to visit the Nintje shop and there I got the Miffy Plush and Pin, because I think both things are just so cute. Of course, the Plush wears a Netherland themed dress and the brushes remind me of the popularity of painters in Amsterdam. Especially since there are adorable Miffy postcards, were the little bunny looks at beautiful paintings. Tony’s Chocolonely was sort of an impulse buy, I got some for my grandpa and later on found out they fight against slavery in Chocolate production. Also, my landlord in Amsterdam let me try some of the Salted Caramel Seasalt chocolate which was delicious. The packaging reminds me a lot of Willy Wonka’s chocolate, too.

Haarlem Finds
Haarlem On the day in Haarlem I got myself a few postcards (see below, as well as he postcards I got in Amsterdam), a book about the Teylers Museum and a small collection of fossils. However, I will write about the museum and it’s perks very soon.

Amsterdam Postcards

Copenhagen Finds
Copenhagen If there is a Disney store, I have to visit it at least once and even though most European Disney stores are very focused on kids. I saw the cutest little Pumba Tsum Tsum, I am actully looking for an Ewok Tsum, but I only found this cutie. Since it was pretty cold, I got myself a scarf on sale. It’s very soft and warm, really a good purchase. Another thing that was inevitable was a charger I got at Photografica. I took the wrong charger for my camera with me, so I had to get something to charge it and that was the thing I got, luckily it can also charge phones and basically everything you could charge. At the Glypotothek I got a new uni pin fine line pen because mine was out of ink and a postcard with a painting by Dahl. At the museum of Natural History I found a cute Ammonit. As a last little thing at the Disney store I got a fantastic Alice cup. The girl at the store was wonderfully friendly and we talked about dresses and cosplay and everything.

Malmö Dress
Malmö One of the first things I did in Malmö was visit Beyond Retro’s Outlet which had a fantastic selection and I got this gingham dress with a sailor collar. I guess it’s a 70s/80s does 40s with the collar and the fabric, especially since it does not have any stains etc and the seams are finished with an overlocker.

Oslo Finds
Oslo Going to Natural History Museums is one of my favourite things to do and there I found a dinosaur coin which is one of the cutest things ever. Then, once more I got something I had to buy, because of the cold: gloves, adorable gloves. At Holmenkollen I saw the Norway patch and thought to myself did you not want to decorate your suitcase with patches? Well, I only got one in Norway, but it’s really cute.

Oslo Dress
At UFF, a second hand store I found this Sandy nightgown (that’s what I call it, because it reminds me a lot of Grease and Doris Day). I assume it’s late 60s/early 70s, the fabric is very high quality and the cut is rather chaste. Well, it is adorable and I want to have all the sleepovers now.

Oslo Postcards

Stokholm Finds
Stockholm If you have been to Stockholm and are somewhat of a nerd, you know about SF Bokhandeln where I found Shakespeare’s Star Wars, a book I heard about just a couple of weeks before and was very interested to read. And it was fantastic, so I want to read all six books now. At Drottingholm I found a crown pin of which some of the earnings go to kids in need. The Erstwilder beehive brooch was on my mind for quite some time, it’s part of the Junebugs & Erstwilder collab and since I love both the Junebugs and bees I really wanted to get the brooch anyway. I was very happy to find it at Daisy Dapper, because the collection was rather hard to get online (and I was too lazy to order online). I also got socks at Engström, a small but full shop in the city and I considered those socks very very cute. Lastly I got a pin of this Swedish horse to put on my denim jacket. It’s just so lovely in colour and design, I had to get it.

Stockholm Dress
One of my best pieces was this Old Touch 50s dress, which did not even cost 30 € (converted from Swedish krona). It looks like a pink prom cupcake dream and when I first tried it on it was a too small, however I went back to the shop and bought it anyway the next day, discovering later on it had seams that were added by a later owner (as were the straps, I think) and without a bra it fits well enough. There is a little rip in the back (they told me in store), but it’s easy to fix and I really look forward to wearing it.

Souvenirs
Lastly I wanted to give you an overview over the things I got for friends and family, I found beautiful little goodies in every city, not only tourist-y stuff, but also in Vintage/Second Hand Shops.

I was really surprised to find Vintage Dress for very little money, as midcentury pieces are barely affordable in Germany. So, I am incredibly happy about finding Vintage goodies at a good price.

Cherry Blossom and Mulan

When I was in Amsterdam I met a close friend of mine and we spend a lovely sunny day in town. Amsterdam is a favourite city of mine because it’s so beautiful with all the water, flowers and lovely people. It’s very lively yet somewhat relaxing. Probably also because there are mear to no cars, that just makes things a hundred times more relaxed. I really love this whole bike and flowers culture.

Of course, since I was there in the beginning of April there weren’t as many flowers but there where quite a few trees in blossom. And in a way I find that even more beautiful. Probably because trees are green all year round but in early spring they are beautifully coloured. Especially apple and cherry blossoms are such a lovely sight. Obviously the later always reminds me of Mulan one of my favourite Disney movies and princesses. The soundtrack alone is fantastic, but I also love all the dresses. Since I recently got heavily inspired by a Asian Sakura-esque aesthetic and so I wanted to create a dress that was inspired by kimonos. It is of course just vaguely referencing with the piping and the cut of the top, but I like it and in general the pastel pink is right up my alley currently.

Amsterdam Kimono Cherry Blossom Mulan

Amsterdam Kimono Cherry Blossom Mulan

However, to get back to Mulan, the pink dress for her does not respresent the same liberty in fashion and happiness mine conveys, but instead it’s very restricting as it is the one to present her to suitors. And that really is not something she wants at that very moment. I am told the second movie shows even more feminist motives, but I did not have the chance to watch that yet (very excited for the live action movie though). However I really like the original, it shows a girl with uncommon/unheard of ideas and plans, very headstrong and still a friendly, nice person. She also has some of the best sidekicks with Mushu and Cricket. Well, anyway, I think it is one of the Disney movies that are really fantastic, because they are so different, but are not appreciated enough. And it can be interpreted in so many ways, too! Well, I think we should all be a bit more daring like Mulan and I really love this face palm brooch that seems to be the perfect response to everyday-sexism.

Irregular Choice Cream Puff & a late Easter bunny

Irregular Choice Cream Puff Pink Easter bunny shoes
My mum is amazing and crazy. While I was in Amsterdam my parents were in Venice and she got me the most adorable pair of Irregular Choice shoes, the Pink Cream Puff Shoes. The entire Easter collection of IC is beautiful, but these are top knotch – though than again, Easter always has cute designs, ’tis the season for pastels! They fit quite well but as (almost) always with IC I have to size up, especially because of my ankles. As always they look super cute from the straps to the sole.

They are as comfortable as any other IC pair I own, with the block heel they are easy and pleasant to walk in. The fluff is really extra, even compared to fancy Darth and R2 heels, but I adore it and the platform with the glitter is beyond perfect. The soles are printed with little bunnies like the packaging and the soles inside feels a bit like velvet. The eyecatcher is of course all that fluff, the heels, the little tail and the ears are so cute and colourwise they are actually quite subtle. The main material looks like faux reptilian leather in a pink pearly tone. However I fear the “leather” might show signs of wearing very fast while the heels probably will get dirty, but can be cleaned. Actually those shoes really look like a little girl’s dream.

When I arrived home (Sunday about one am) my mum was already in Las Vegas for work, but she left me the shoes and a bit of an easter basket inside the shoes box. With bunny soap, star wars chocolates, amazingly beautiful socks that I will wear all summer long, more chocolates, little things from Venice and earplugs (I kind of “collect” earplugs for some reason, just because when it’s noisy I want to be on the save side). It was the cutest easter basket ever and I am immensly grateful.

I feel like if I talk once more about how much I love Frankenstein, people will hit me over the head with a rock. But I guess, I did not talk about it on the blog that much – much rather to my friends and it’s constantly on my mind. All day, every day. I’m crazy about this book, it’s so beautifully written, thrilling, dramatic and just wonderful. Both Victor and his monster have a special place in my heart, well especially the first, I find him so loveable with his obsessive interest in science and his heartbreakingly sad state of mind.

But of course Frankenstein is not the only thing on my mind at the moment (though about 70% of the content on my mind while I write this), I am also very fond of this lovely little bag. Usually I carry around bigger bags because I tend to have all the things we me I could possibly need. But, in a way it is refreshing to only have the bare necessities, then a book and a snack on me. Especially when I’m about to visit a park there is no need whatsoever for hand sanitizer, a comb or a powerbank. And this bag gives me the opportunity to decide what really is important. Also, it has the most adorable little sewing shop motive and that probably is the most fitting Vendula Design for me. Actually, I have another shape of this bag, too, more of a clutch that I have yet to wear.

Of course, with the basket of my bike I have the chance to carry about my food and a good book even with a small purse. My bike is called Gladys like the one of Flavia de Luce and I kind of want to be like her, going everywhere with my bike – I mean, I try to, but when there is rain, I really don’t. I guess, I need a cute little rain coat. However, I take my bike when I go to town or to the city centre. Not that much of a fan when it comes to biking tours, but I have more of a riding my bike to the park attitude.

And do I love this park! It has been year since I first went there, and I enjoy the sunshine in this park every single year from the first day of spring to the first day of autumn rain. It’s quite, yet buzzing with life, because of all the animals and kids running around in the little stream – here is one of the first set of photos I ever took there. I love how all the white and blue of the outfit of this day goes with the green and the sunshine of the last days of March (took the photos about a month ago with Goldhände). Light blue and just pastel colours in general are my favourite thing to wear at th moment (and bobby socks!), not only is that such a spring thing, pastels are also so very happy. And while I write this I watch Sissi with Romy Schneider – she wears so many beautiful paste tones too, though I just love the 1850s fashion in general. It’s beyond beautiful and even though this outfit is more 1950s then 1850, I think it could easily be turned into a dress of a century before with a longer skirt.
Well, these were a few of my favourite things at the moment and now I wish you a wonderful evening.

Movie Theatres. Probably one of the best inventions of mankind. To me it is still astonishing that someone came up with this technique – but then again I find science and technology in general so fascinating. However I actually wanted to write a bit about movies and cinema visits today. Within two last year are made it a habbit to go to the cinema more often, sure I do not manage to watch every movie I’m interested in, but I would say about 70-80 percent. Before that I only went to the movies about three times a year for whatever unexplainable reason. After all, one of my favourite movie scenes is the one with Danny in the drive in singing his depressing song (Grease) – unfortunately I never went to a drive in. Well, yet, that is on my bucket list.

I’m really glad I manage to go watch movies I want to see on the big screen quite often nowadays – and in OV, because living in a big city there are a few OV movie theatres nearby. And most recently I was not disappointed with most movies I watched – that said, I do not really watch blockbusters, but rather biopics and horror movies – at least in cinema. And Star Wars, obviously. I can’t even begin to imagine how amazing it must have been to watch the original trilogy in cinema. I love how movies, waiting for the release and then waiting in line to finally watch it connects people, to be honest, that makes me somewhat emotional.

Movies are not only an escape but also a way to connect to people, especially with amazing series like Star Wars, Back to the Future or Jurassic Park (just to name some favourites with a big fanbase). In 2015 I convinced my friends to attend the BttF event and it was probably one if the best things I ever did (not only because they are still thankful, but because it was glorious) and I wish there were more events like that. After all this year is the 40 year anniversary of A New Hope (well, in Germany it would be February 2018) – and even if they to not show it at the cinema I guess it’s very obvious what I will do that day.

Of course, the atmosphere of a screening in cinema is always just a bit better with all the popcorn (and nachos for some), the comfy chairs and the darkness. Just writing this makes me excited for the next time I watch a movie (while writing this in March I have not seen Beauty and the Beast yet, but will soon, even though my anticipation is not that high – much more excitement for the live-action version of Mulan here). And I know a lot of people dislike cinemas for all the other people (th chewers and whisperers), but somehow I barely come across annoying people at movie theatres luckily. But then again I often manage to be in cinema with close to no other people – well except for Star Wars and Hidden Figures The latter was in a very small cinema, maybe room 40 people, opening night, OV and I am so glad that fantastic movie got the attention it deserved. I still need to read the book, though. What are your favourite cinema movies? And what would you like to change (bringing cats to the cinema e.g.)?
