Apparently, there is this myth about moths being dead spirits. Well vengeful bad spirits, but since I think moths are lovely and beautiful, let’s just say spirits of any kind. I love that idea, moths are mainly found during night time, looking for light, I can imagine them being ghosts of people that passed recently. After all there are even moths with the image of a skull on the back.

Sure, those mainly remind me of Silence of the Lambs, but then again that movie is amazing. I can’t even say if I like the movie or TV show adaptation of Hannibal better. Of course, the TV show has Hugh Dancy and he is literally my favourite male eye candy. And it’s by Bryan Fueller, because he is an amazing show runner (thinking of, I have to continue American Gods). Anyway, I think moths work great with the genre in general, because they have this darkness and calmness at the same time.

Of course, moths also remind me of Animal Crossing, because as a kid I used to play AC in the evening, especially in summer and catching moths was always part of that. By now I also own my own little (or not so little, it’s actually rather big) moth and it looks a lot like the big one in Wild World. So besides me loving moths, and this on being beautiful, that is another plus. You can see it here, by the way.

In a way that also matched the gothic vibes Krakow has to it. However I cannot let this pass without mentioning how AMAZING this chimney cake (it’s actually a Czech thing, but whatever) with caramel cream, a sort of frozen yoghurt/ice cream and my favourite bisquits. Not only does it look like heaven, it was an utter dream come true. That’s probably why I look at it as if it was my one true love or my newborn.

colourful hair guide

hair guide blue hair colourful
As someone with colourful hair people on- and especially offline who does my hair, why I have it like that, what I use and of course what colours are upcoming. So I decided to show these things with you today.

hair colour red
split dye orange pink
Back in August I shared my hair story, but to give you a quick overview over the colourful hair dyes (aka not brown/blonde). I was red about three or four different times and I always liked it, nevertheless I always went back to blond/brown after red. By late 2015/early 2016 I started mixing things up myself – before my mum or the hair dresser had done it for me. I tried purple-ish, had the split-dye orange-pink and peach. Since this summer I change my hair colour about once a month, the current being blue with purple roots.

How I go
ConfettiBleaching
I visit the hair dresser about every two months to get my hair cut and roots bleached. I do not dare to bleach my hair on my own – I was really afraid before bleaching them for the first time, but apparently my hair is rather though. However some of it did break aftre bleaching them for the third time – I guess the main issue was that my hair was dyed (directions) before and there was a lot of jazz going on. It is growing back by now and you can barely see it. Obviously that is something you have to consider when bleaching your hair – even professionally and the more often you get your hair bleached the higher the risk. Also, while my hair is easy to maintain, some people do get frizzy hair from bleaching. So keep that in mind – it is only hair after all.
hair colouring
Colouring
Usually I go like this: I have the blonde for a month and then put the colour on my hair. I do have the plan for the next hair colour about one or two months before I do the colouring, so I’m pretty sure I will not regret it. After washing and (blow)drying my hair I start with my fringe section (I wear gloves and do it by hand, I prefer that over a hair colour brush) and then part my hair in the middle and do one side and then the other one. Then I continue to the back of my head and eventually do my tips again, because they tend to get little to now colour. Next I just put the stuff I have left in my little mixing bowl on my head, trying to cover spots I missed and just put another layer on top. Last I put up my hair, it usually sticks together because it’s short and full of hair dye and wrap some tin foil around my head (to get lost in conspiracy theories obvs). Usually I let my hair colour sit in my hair for half an hour or one. I don’t usually touch up my hair within the month, because I’ve always like the way the colours wash out. However you can definetly apply another layer or another colour on top – preferrably something that has a similar colour scheme or is darker. Don’t jump from dark blue to yellow, but go from blue to purple or waist until it washes out completely.

Some upcoming plans and inspiration
hair colour purple
My decision on my next hair colour is based on a few things – Instagram usually gives me a lot of inspiration, not only people but also drawings. But, I’m not limited to online inspiration, it’s also when I see someone on the street or just think of a colour – the split-dye was purely made up by me (even though people did that combination before I did not know of that). The blue however was inspired by someone telling me “oh you should dye your hair blue next”, not only because someone asked me, but that was one of the reasons. Maybe if you want to change your hair every once in a while, just keep a list/screenshots to remind you of them. I really want to try yellow this year and a greyish-pink mix, but I would also love a darker pink – which is with the blue already on my hair probably the easiest to do. Also, I want to go back to blonde again, like the one I had in Prague, but we will see…

What I use
Directions Hair Dye Colour Carnation Pink Lagoon Blue
As I mentioned I do not bleach my hair at home, so I can only recommend hair dyes. I did use elumen by Goldwell the first time I had red hair, however I’m pretty sure they test on animals, so I would not buy their stuff again. Besides that it stayed in my hair forever – there was no way of getting that stuff out other than by dyeing my hair brown. i also tried Manic Panic ones, but I barely got any colour out of that (might have been do to the fact that I had not bleaches my hair, but it was a light colour, so…). Ever since then I only use directions, mainly the blue and pink tones and I was never disappointed. BlueBanana sent me Carnation Pink and Lagoon Blue – Lagoon Blue is my current colour. I actually ordered from BlueBanana before (via amazon), because they sell directions for a really good price, but they also sell cute fandom stuff. So in case you look for directions, I would really recommend their website. You can mix and match directions and it works pretty well, e.g. for the peach I made a mix of Mandarin, Flamingo Pink (and Revlon Nutri Color 004 my hair dresser gave me) and conditioner. You can basically use every kind of conditioner that is white and creamy. If your hair is light blonde the colour you mix wil be the one you end up with, might be a little lighter, because cream usually looks a bit darker than hair.
My favourite Directions are Lagoon Blue and Mandarin, but the pinks are high quality as well.

Taking care
Peach Hair
To be honest I am not a hair care person. Not at all, I use conditioner only to make my hairdye lighter and masks and stuff only about every two months. So, I have to say, I am lucky that I’m blessed with tough hair. However I do one thing: I only wash my hair about once a week, only every 5-7 days that keeps my colour intense and is good for my hair, I think. I do also use heat – to get my bob and when I do curls (I have a weird/good curling routine, I might share that). The colours do fade and I know some people include a bit of their dye into the conditioner they usually go for and I think that’s pretty smart. If you’re a person to use masks, why not do that once a week while reading or doing stuff, just keep it in longer than usual. Directions themselves are not in any way bad for the hair, they are said to be a bit like Conditioner and I think.

How to dare it
Blue Hair
Now to the most interesting part for you, I guess, how to take the plunge. For bleaching, go to a good hair dresser, usually they know what they are doing and your hair will not break. However, you should be okay with getting rid of a few cms/inches due to fraying. Personally, I don’t have a big problem with fraying (again, I am lucky!), but depending on your hair type it might fray. For colours, if you are really unsure about it, try a wig, there are good ones for 20 € – now that I own a few wigs, I could see me wearing the natural ones just for a day. With something to wear on your head – scarfes, flowers, hats you can make most of them look pretty natural. When your job restrictions keep you from changing your hair colour, a wig can be a good solution – whether you wear one at your job or in your private life. If you go for your first colour, maybe start with orange, red or pink tones, they seem to be more accepted by society by now, especially when toned down a bit. Purple, green and blue are much more noticeable, so it’s great if you start out with that, but it is also fun to start with a subdued pink. But, to be honest, it is up to yourself and only you can do this decision, just keep in mind that your hair will grow back/out and you can rather easily wash out Directions or dye over them if you do not like it. Just buy a natural tone with the bright colour you choose and you’re on the save side. Also, consider this – if you don’t like the way your skin looks in a certain colour, it might not be the best colour to dye your hair (that’s why I stray from green).
Blue Hair
People are nicer than you might think, actually, last weekend when I went shopping with my mum about five people came up to me telling me they liked my hair and sharing stories. Recently a man told me I had the hair colour of a witch – I do not know whether or not that was supposed to be an insult. Personally I think witches are great, back in the day witches were just women with a lot of medical knowlegde (regular people were afraid of), so who wouldn’t wanna be that? However, people can be unfriendly and insulting and even though I have near to no experiences like that, I wanted to tell you. It is of course an issue of confidence, but to be honest exciting hair colours/cuts do push your confidence a lot and it does help feeling better about yourself. So if you wanted to dye your hair in whatever colour for quite some time, just do it and rock it!

What is your current or dream haircolour?

BlueBanana did sent me directions in Lagoon Blue and Carnation Pink, their was no sponsorship whatsoever included, all of the opinions stated are mine. However the link to the website an Affiliate Link.

my favourite outfits of 2016

As the first post of 2017, we start with a recap sort of thing – a recap of fashion, one of my favourite things in the world. These are all Instagram posts that do not include official outfit post – what does that mean? These are pics taking in my room including selfies and just outfits I feel like deserve recognition – and to be worn again! I did something like that last year, too, and once this post is finished, I’ll revisit the old one.

This one is very pink, like a lot of pink – I especiallylove the tights and the magic wand I found. But, I have to mention those brooches as well, an Instagram friend gave them to me and as I love Hairspray, I love these brooches. And, the makeup, I remember which eyeshadow I did use and will wear that again very soon.

Melanie Martinez – how I love thee. This one was not worn outside, but I still love it a lot, from the top to the tights and while I had to throw them away, I really need similar ones soon again.

Those thights again, I love them jut so much and I think they go very well with the petticoat and the lettuce flower crown.

This one is not necessarily a favourite outifit, but more the thought of going out of my comfort zone as well as the denim jacket – that looks even better now.

First selfie right here, love the makeup and the flower crown. I think it has some cute details, too.

I think this is the first post including my cat, so I had to include it here. Also, the dress is one of my all time favourites.

The thing about this one tís the hair turban – I really don’t wear that often enough!

This includes one of my petticoat when it was still VERY fluffy and I like it a lot, it’s a pretty outfit, too, with red – which is one of my favourite colours.

This brooch and this skirt are perfect together, so I had to include an outfit where I wear these things together. Also, shoutout to little moose, their brooches are amazing!

Little moose again, what a coincidence. That was my outfit to Alice II, which has some emotional meaning, but also for all the little Alice bits.

Selfie Time again! That’s one of my favourite selfies – it’s fun and cute and different, especially with it being my first selfie with the white short bob hair which grew to me soo much.

I love this dress a lot, and I think it’s beyond perfect with the shoes and the white hair – some things just belong together.

That’s my prom outfit. I did not get photos of it yet, so I have to wait and see until one day I will, but it opened up my love for the twenties (actually Miss Fisher did that) and actually wearing 20s stuff – I really need some cute twenties skirts and dresses!

That one is actually my most like pic on Instagram – I like it, too, no doubt, it’s Alice and the effect is kinda cool. That was a big part of my summer, so I had to include it – yes, I know, I still have to blog about my expierence working as Alice.

Did I include this one only for Moriarty’s cute look? Yes.

Once again, a new hair colour, and I also really love that sjirt I got at Star Wars Identities.

Space Buns! I mean, sure I love the dress, but I am obsessed with space buns. I think that are a lot of fun, especially with half-half hair. Even though I cannot wear my hair in space buns very often, I love space buns a lot.

This blouson is so fancy and somewhat Asian, it’s just so lovely Also, I like wearing that top and it works so well with a lot of my things – of course, mainly in summer.

The yellow dress is one I wear a lot, it’s simple and can be worn with basicall everything and besides the outfit post, I think it’s great with red.

This one was my profile picture on Instagram for quite some time and I wear tht shirt a lot when I relax at home and as a whole it’s slightly like Snow White – also curls for the first time in what felt like ages.

I found this flannel my mum got in Philadelphia once and I love it. (The #selfie is from Monday, I'm sick at the moment and look … not so good 😅). Also I really hope that election wakes up and unites all the #nastywomen and every one who values equal rights for all humans. It saddens me a lot that populism and hate speech still have the same power as eighty years ago. Hopefully we can learn from the past and fight for and defend everyone's equal rights – not only in the USA, but also everywhere else (right wing politicians here in Europe are having a blast…). Love and be kind to each other. ❤ #ootdsocialclub #ootd #whatiwore #pinupgirl #noveltyprint #autumn #fall #autumnfashion #winter #winterfashion #pinkhair #disney #fairy #pixie #princess #glitter #mickeymouse #peachhair #cottoncandyhair #20sbob #doyoulikemyvintagebob #50s

ANOTHER SELFIE? Yes, with the new hair colour (well, I had t in the pic above, but you can see it a lot better here). Also, I like the both makeup and the cute little shirt I stole from my mom.

Another year has gone by without me shooting this outfit properly, so I had to include it once and since I think that pic is pretty cute, I took this one.

That’s not … me. That’s my cat, cutest thing ever.

My Ellie Sattler Cosplay means a lot to me for various reasons and I want to take really good pics of it one day, probably with a wig. And since the tote bag was made by me, I wanted to include that one as well.

I only include that for fabulous straight after hairdresser hair. ♥

Now, be prepared for a couple of Star Wars Outfits, this BB-8 one still needs proper Outfit Pics, but I like that quick photo with the Funko.

This one is kind of a hipster rather than a pinup outfit, but I really love everything about it. I’ve been thinking of getting the shirt forever. While I do not want to support fast fashion, every once in a while I get an H&M piece after thinking about it forever and usually I will keep it for years. So while I’m not 100% happy with that solution I’m at least half way okay with it.

This dress might be my favourite I made that year, who knows? Anyway, both cut and print are very much to my liking.

Jurassic Park, that’s all.

For me, everything is right with that picture, the light in the background are on (I always forget to put them on!) and I’m low-key obsessed with the dress, it has the most perfect fabric, satin and velvet, you can imagine.

Tights again – let’s start and end with fancy tights. I would not have worn mustard yellow tights last year, but with a few people on Insta rocking the colour I wanted to try that and I enjoy the way it looks.

What outfits of mine – or yours – did you like a lot this year?

Did Selfies turn society more narcissistic? Taking pictures of ourselves, all the time, every day, five, ten, hundred. I wonder sometimes, but when you think about it, people have always been a little self-obsessed. Back in the days aristocrats had giant paintings of themselves and of course, most of them were really flattering and fake in way. And it’s the same with selfie angles and filters. So is that a bad thing? Or a new thing? I really don’t think so, maybe it gained a bit in quantity, but in general “selfies” or what ever you want to call a portrait, be it photo or painting of yourself, are something that has been ther forever.

16th century selfie

After all even people in the stone age made those paintings of themselves hunting animals or doing heroic stuff in general. Of course, sometimes the selfie obsession does get out of hand, but in general I think it’s actually a good thing as well. Especially on Instagram (at least in the Vintage/Pinup Scene) body positivity and kindness is quite a huge part, so selfies are also a sign of self love, and not necessarily an obsessive one. Also why is being contend with yourself always considered a bad thing? After all, most of us do have one complex or two. And we could really need some appreciation of ourselves.

16th century selfie

16th century selfie

Why do we always bother to find the bad about everything? Especially about ourselves and technology? Why not appreciate the fact that we can take a quick picture on a really good day? I think we should when we feel like it and if we have to take fifty pics to catch that amazing makeup or how the light reflects in our eyes that day – why not? Take a selfie if you want to and cherish the things you like about yourself instead of bashing the ones you don’t like.

Cats are my favourite animals, you know that, of course I also really love deer and (bumble) bees, ravens and moths. But deep inside it’s cats. It has always been. Moriarty (who will get a post soooon) is my second real cat and he is – even though a little bit of a filthy bugger – a cutie. And I am so happy he does live with us.

Since I was a kid I wanted to have cat, I did not get one though, only a alectronic plushie that would meow when petted. It was a cute toy nevertheless and just last week we put in some batteries again and let Moriarty play with her. Which was pretty cute. Beforewe had a cat again, I knew about cat cafés, but I thought they were only limited to Japan.

They are not! Turns out, there are cat cafés in other countries as well. And there is one in Munich! You can imagine my happiness as my friend told me about the café – it’s so wonderful, not only if you don’t have cats. It’s a vegan café, so that’s a big plus as well. But, most importantly, there are various cats, running around, cuddeling and just being cute. That was really wonderful and if you have the chance to go to one, you should take it. It’s very relaxing. The photos were taken by my dear friend Charlotte, who told me about the café – but most of them were taken near my favourite museum – the Neue Pinakothek on the 27th of October, when autumn was really beautiful and golden.

So, while I actually have a few post that if I posted them chronologically would be first, but I just wanted o write this post – and I really like the pictures. I took them with my best friend, Thyra, whom I do not see very often, but whenever we meet we connect like we just met a few days ago. It always makes me feel very good.

Woodland Fairy

Of course, we know each other from an early age and we did so many things together. Since we often went to my grandparents together they kind of were hers as well – and my grandpa who is obsessed with making photo books made so many of us. Naturally I took them with me and we had a look at them which was very lovely. When we were kids, we were fighting regularly, but never for a long time, now we don’t figt very often (I do not recall a fight in the last couple of years), because our ideals and the things we enjoy are very similar.
Actually, our interests were always really similar and we inspired each other to try various things – playing Animal Crossing and Tamagotchi, board games (you do not find someone our age playing board games very often, so we are always happy to play some), drawing, painting, reading, blogging, basically everything. Obviously we do not like all the same things, but our interests are similar, so we have a lot to talk about.

Woodland Fairy

Woodland Fairy

So, we also enjoy taking photos together, I always feel at ease when Thyra takes my pictures, because we know each other for so long – it’s aways great for body positivity to surrond yourself with people that truly support you. Even if it’s hard sometime you have to say goodbye to people that are toxic to you, because people that are good for you (and you are good for them) will stay true to you and help you flourish.

One or two years ago I would never have dared to colour my hair this way – of course, I still get self-conscious sometimes, but on the other hand I really like to make people feel a little weirded out (if you know what I mean). I love my new hair so much and I constantly hum Eliza Doolittle’s Pack Up.
After all trying to care a little less is a good advise, because there’s always something to cry about (as she sings).

If it’s not positive why should it matter? Though, actually I don’t listen to her or my advice. While I’m very happy about every lovely comment on my Instagram page and I do wear my things no matter what, I still listen to those negative comments (I do not get them very often, but sometimes). I guess most of you can relate, you mainly focus on the bad things, but I try on work on that. Still, firstly posting my outfits (and face) online was a huge step for me and I really am proud of myself, but in general that gave me so much in return, such a self-esteem boost. I can already annonce that I dared to be barefoot and I really don’t like my feet (nor those of other people admittedly). And wandering around the woods with Thyra I totally felt like a woodland fairy. After all we also met a cute frog – but now, where are my fairy wings?

Woodland Fairy

Woodland Fairy

Daring something just helps so much, obviously you won’t always get lollipops and happiness in return, but sometimes you do and it feels great. So why not dare to wear something you always wanted to, but never dared?

hair talk

hair talk
I wanted to write this post for about a year, basically since I had my pixie cut. Still, somehow I did not write that post, only sad little segments, but today I finally decided it was time to write this post. I included a few funnypictures of my hair during the years, colour, cut, everything. I guess now is a good time because I just recently coloured my hair (how I did it and what I used will be explained down below). This is also the first time you will see some pre-blog pictures of me, though I only have two here on the notebook, I included both of them – and please bare with terrible eyebrows! ;)

hair talk
During the years I had all sorts of hairstyles, colours and routines. In fifth grade I choped my hip-length hair off, first shoulder length, than everything-5-cms-length (I looked like a hamster and it was not flattering, especially when growing out). Actually I always wanted curls, preferably red ones (Merida curls, to be accurate) – as a kid I did have blond curls, but growing up, cutting my hair – the curls faded and left sad waves.
I think the best hairstory I can tell is one when I was in kindergarten (or maybe first/second grade). It was carnival time and my best friend, his brother and I ate crullers (we call them “Krapfen” and they are basically doughnuts without a whole but instead filled with yam, chocolate cream etc.) filled with apricot jam. Yeah, I still remember which jam. Awkward as always, I somehow managed to get jam in my hair. And I didn’t want to tell my mum, so I just took a pair of scissors and cut of the jam-part of my hair. Of course, my mum didn’t realise my new fringe at all. In a way I feel like I might sstil do that today and only later realise how much more obvious that is. Of course, we had to go to the hair dresser and fix my terrible little experiment eventually.

A few years forward. My hair was growing and growing to a length below my boobs or about my waist, I don’t know anymore – I finally decided it was time for real red hair. I’ve had a few semi-permanent hair colours before, but that, now, was when I really wanted something new (here is the german post). So, I got myself red elumen and let my mum do the work. It was amazing red Ariel hair! I stuck with this for quite some time until I let it grow out and had terrible roots, thinking for some time I would go back to my natural hair colour. In general I was inspired by Doris Day with the a-bit-longer-than-chin length and fringe, but growing out it was more like Chuck Charles (my all time favourite fashion icon). Yes, I always had a fringe or was growing one out.

hair talk
hair talk

As we all know, I did not – I got into pin up (some styles seen above with redish hair) and dyed my hair dark brown and ended up with a fringe. Some days, now, I still long for those shiny brown curls. These pictures are some of my favourite hair pictures of mine. I was able to do quite a few retro hairstyle and I loved it.

hair talk
hair talk
But, of course, I got bored after a while, I cannot stick with one hair thing forever, I wanted my hair to be short again. Obviously without looking like a hamster. At this time I was into Once Upon A Time a lot, and I loved Ginnifer Goodwin as Mary Margaret, so the obvious thing to do was cutting my hair like that – after all it was drk brown already. I still remember having it done on the last day of school (11th grade), I still really like those photos, but I also remember all the trouble I had with the fringe.
During this time I found so many ispirational women with pixie cuts and it was so wonderful to see how they styled it and the self-esteem boost it really does give you. Seriously, if you dare to, try it, it’s weird some days and especially in the beginning, but so wonderful as well. Naturally my main inspiration was Ginnifer, but also Audrey Hepburn and this girl (though I’m too goofy and sarastic to appear like a magical fairy princess), but also Felicia Day, even though she did not have her pixie anymore by then, but she shared this article once.

Then, from mid of Novemeber on, I had this red, sometimes pinkish, hair, that turned purple in February. Eventually I did not wear my fringe side-swept anymore, the hair colour looked really dirty some days and very beautiful and purple on other days, but I always had violett eybrows as well and I just love matching my brows to my hair. To cope with the growing out, I watched a lot of videos, I will link down below, but actually I mainly wore a pompadour when I did not want to wash my hair yet, a faux beehive once or twice and some space buns until I got into curls again.
If you want to grow out a pixie, have a look at this or this.

So, without any cut at all, I just dealt with the former pixie cut and wore it as pink/purple curls.

Not able to stick with anything at all, I needed some change again and being the professinal fangirl that I am, I drew my inspiration from fictional characters once more. This time, Ms Phryne Fisher and Mia Wallace as well as Iona from Pretty in Pink (she’s everything, I love her versatility fashion-vise). So the decision was made and I got a white-blonde 20s bob. I was lucky and my hair was not terribly dry or anything. I guess, my hair is just very strong. Or something like that… Anyway, that was so much fun, but just planned as the base for colours, but I stuck with it for almost three months and I guess I will have some blonde bob weeks in the future, too. As with the pixie cut, I wanted a real statement hair cut, something that is always the same, but in a good way. I have no problem with long hair, I think it looks beautiful on some people, but I think if you’re not into updos and hair styles or colours in general it’s plain boring. And even though I love both coours and styles, I wanted a cut that would be the same every day in a way. Like characters in movies who always have the same hair style (Mia Wallace, Phryne Fisher…), back with the white hair and red lips someone even said I’d look iconic and you know, in a way that’s wat I strive for. I don’t want to be an icon or something like that, but having an iconic look – even though it changed from time to time and isn’t always the same – just like Iona. And here is an interesting post about women who cut their hair short in the 20s.

So I decided it was time for some colour again. I loved the blonde A LOT, but I was missing colour and I was planning this for months. Of course my half-half inspiration is @littlebodybigheart 💕 And up until now I did not know that orange hair was what was missing in my life. 😍 Used Flamingo Pink and Mandarin. I think the orange side looks like Leeloo from The 5th Element, so now I finally have to watch the movie! Tomorrow I will meet one of my oldest and dearest friends again, so happy now. 💞 #ootdsocialclub #ootd #whatiwore #pinupgirl #handmade #pinkhair #orangehair #pinkhairdontcare #newhair #directions #dırectionshaircolour #halfandhalf #redlips #melaniemartinezhair #20sbob #doyoulikemyvintagebob #50s

So, as I mentioned I wanted to colour my hair when I got it bleached and I already had my colours in mind, I wanted a half and half like Melanie Martinez, but orange and pink. I used Directions (as I usually do), the orange is Mandarin and the pink Flamingo Pink. If I stick with it, I might post a colouring/maintenance routine one day and talk about how the colours fade. N ow they are very bright and look a whole lot like text markers! I’m especially loving the orange, so beautiful and the colours work great with my eyes. Actually, orange was never really on my hair colour agenda, sure, I follow some girls with amazing orange hair on Instagram, but I was never really feeling the need to have orange hair and now with one half orange, I really want a whole orange look (like in the 5th element which I still haven’t seen yet!), but I’m also craving peachy hair. For now, I will stick with that for at least three weeks when I get my roots touched up. While I had Flamingo Pink before (on top of red and blue, so it was purple), I have no idea how long it will take the orange to wash out. I hope it will barely fade though!
I’m incredibly happy with my hair cut and colour and I’m so excited to wear flowers again and see what will come up next for my hair.

What is your current hair colour and what is your dream colour? With so many possibilities out there, why don’t you give it a try?

As you can see due to my hair these pictures were taken quite some time ago, I just didn’t manage to post them. At the moment the weather is like this: five days of rain, one sunny day, one semi-sunny day. As long as it rains on non-work days/days which I plan on spending inside, I don’t mind at all. Though, when it’s really dark it’s more difficult to sew unfortunately. So, I rather procrastinate and play the Sims.

My favourite flowers are daisies, have always been. After all, they grow everywhere and they look so adorable. I don’t have a green thump, so every other plant dies within a few day when I have to take care of it. No matter what plant or how easy it is to take care of. Well, I guess daisies might survive.

Anyway, I think they make a great print, so delicate and beautiful – so I wear this dress really often, like here for example. Of course, I usually do when the sun is shining and it’s above 20°C. The day I took these pictures was one of the few summer-ish days this year so far.

I guess Marie Antoinette never had to worry about making her flowers survive – but then, she’s not exactly a role model, is she? But she had great hair and I really want a wig like that, so I can wear a ship or birdcage in my hair (like on my brooch). Until then I try a lot of things with my hair that doesn’t involve ships.

Oh, he’s very popular, Ed. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads – they all adore him. They think he’s a righteous dude.

Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism’s in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, “I don’t believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.” Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I’d still have to bum rides off people.

Um, he’s sick. My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

Look, it’s real nice that you hope my brother is feeling better, but I’m in danger, okay? I am very cute, very alone and very protective of my body. I don’t want it violated or killed, all right? I need help! Speaka de English? DICKHEAD!

The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It’s a good non-specific symptom; I’m a big believer in it. A lot of people will tell you that a good phony fever is a dead lock, but, uh… you get a nervous mother, you could wind up in a doctor’s office. That’s worse than school. You fake a stomach cramp, and when you’re bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It’s a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.

Ladies and gentlemen, you are such a wonderful crowd, we’d like to play a little tune for you. It’s one of my personal favorites and I’d like to dedicate it to a young man who doesn’t think he’s seen anything good today – Cameron Frye, this one’s for you.

Dress – handmade | Petticoat – handmade | Glitter Shoes – Exquily (via Amazon DE) | Brooch – Ann Tiki (it’s unique as every brooch of Ann Tiki, but they are all adorable) | Hat – Pepaloves (via Maison CiCi) | Lipstick – Besame Classic Color Lipstick C208 Red (1920s)

The dress is inspired by Chuck Charles and the hat matched so perfectly I had to combine it – it kinda reminds me of a Lolita inspired coord. And thanks to lovely Aida who took the pictures for me – I did not edit them, because I really love the light. Now, go watch that great movie!

… You’re still here? It’s over!

Handmade Update March

Another month is other again. I don’t know but it feels like time goes by faster and faster. Well, March was productive nevertheless. The first half especially, the second half not as much due to being in London and studying Maths. Well, that’s what I made.

Carnation Crown
Carnation Flower Crown
3rd of March
I found the flowers at Ikea (about 0.70/0.80 € each) and considered them just perfect for a flower crown.

Harlequin Shorts
Harlequin Shorts
1st, 4th, 5th of March
I tried to sew pants with this fabric twice, but it did not work at all. AT ALL. So, I decided on Shorts. They aren’t perfect either, but the fit rather well (waist could be tighter) and I came up with the suspenders, inspired by the Collectif Clothing shorts with suspenders.

Polkadot Dress
Red Polka Dot Dress
6th, 8th of March
Inspired by my favourite fashion icon Chuck Charles, I made this dress which was a lot of fun to make and the fabric is so soft you wouldn’t believe it. The only problem is that it is a little too wide around the bust area so I have to fix that soon before it’s warm enough to wear the dress.

Rose Crown
Rose Flower Crown
11th of March
These wonderful, slightly velvet rose flowers were found at Butlers and I find them just amazing, Meli Hotaru wore similar ones here and since I saw them I wanted a crown of red roses.

Blood Choker
Blood Choker
8th, 12th of March
This might be a bit macabre, but when seeing breedingunicorns wear similar ones, I wanted a choker for myself. Not sure when to wear them yet, but I will one day.

Light Rose Crown
Light Rose Crown
12th of March
Flower crowns were the main theme of my handmade things this month. I got these flowers at idee and think they will make agreat accessoire this spring.

Cherry Minidress
Cherries 60s Minidress
11th, 12th of March
The second weekend of March was incredibly good for sewing, so I made this Minidress. Short Sixities dresses are a lot of fun to make and wear and I love that. The cut is a very simple, so unless you make a wrong seams (as I did and then had to rip the seams and sew again) it’s the fastest little dress you can imagine.

Tea Dress
Tea Party Dress
13th of March
After that I had to make this dress. I had to fix a few things after sewing it (and the lining of the sleeves should not be seen, but it wasn’t ironed back then). I love the ruffle and the novelty print of this dress. Now, about the fabric, I found it for 3.99 € at Karstadt and was like yes, I will get that. But I thought about half an hour if I should take it or not, because there was some sort of film, like waxed cotton has – it seems to be made for table cloths. Well, that did not stop me and eventually (it has been washed twice now) the film was remove. I’m awfully glad I got it.

Morpheus/Blood Girl with cloak
Morpheus/Blood Girl with cloak
6th, 8th, 27th of March
Finally, almost at the end of the month I finished this watercolour painting. The character is inspired by a character (Morpheus) of a story of mine and Mia Wasikowska in Crimson Peak, and, you know, somewhat bloody characters in general.

I also created a new Header, Blog-Icon and watermark as a cup fits the name of the blog a lot better. And there are new buttons for the categories on the right.

What did you create this month?
