a few gothic favourites

Gothic Favourites
Currently I’m loving the Victorian idea of Gothic, I love gothic horror anyway, but I also really enjoy the aesthetic with the beautiful lace details and darkness. I did not show any below, but I also really enjoy Chokers at the moment (who is late on that train?), because I think they can add this Victorian vibe (of course that heavily depends on material etc.).

Gothic Favourites Bride of Frankenstein Funko Pop
My love for Frankenstein is very big and you know that, because I talk about it all the time. So, eventually I decided to get the 30s movies after falling in love with this beautiful Bride print at Comic Con. As it is the case every once in a while I also got the Funko Pop figurine. And to me this one is especially beautiful with the details on the dress – and of course, her big hair is too cute.

Gothic Favourites Bride of Frankenstein Pin Brooch Violets Sappho'S Club sapphic
I also love this Bride pin by Kate Gabrielle – which I turned into a brooch, because it’s something I rather wear. She also glows in the dark, which is a fantastic addition to this character in particular. The violets brooch is a sapphic symbol and I think it’s very dainty and beautiful.

Gothic Favourites Moth
This moth was a gift by my mother – I talked about this before on Instagram; I wanted to get it in the beginning of July after looking at it for weeks, but it wasn’t at the Antique shop anymore and I was quite sad. However mum had gotten it for me, because she is the loveliest. Moths are one of my favourite animals, and this one in particular also reminds me of Animal Crossing. It’s a beautiful piece and I’m still thinking about where to place it to really show off it’s beauty.

Gothic Favourites 80s Edwardan Dress White GypsyGothVintage
One of my favourite Instagram accounts is Gypsy Goth Vintage and she also has an etsy shop where she sells beautiful pieces from the 20th century. I have been eyeing a pair of trousers for months, maybe years – it’s a 80s piece in turquoise. Well, still thinking about getting it. BUT I did get this lovely 80s piece, it’s an Edwardian inspired piece and exactly the kind of dress I love at the moment. With all the different organza and lace it’s a gorgeous pice and I got it at a fantastic price. It gives me quite a nice “antique” silhouette and I think it would look great wearing it in a forest (hauning surrounding villages, probably).

Gothic Favourites Lipstick Kiko essence metal green sangria
Recently I discovered green lipsticks – surprisingly they lok quite natural on me, the essence one (Metal Shock in 07 Venom) looks a bit like I imagine Medusa and the Kiko one (Metal Lipstick in 12 Forest Green) which is a bit darker like a mermaid. As someone that does not look that good in green clothing it is really interesting to see that green lipstick looks good on me (additionally they have fancy names). But, I also really enjoy the dark red/fuchsia tone (Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick in 111 Sangria) – I know dark tones are more popular in winter, but I do love them at the moment (then again they fit in quite well with the gothic/edwardian/victorian vibes I love right now). The design of tha last one is really innovative, but also kind of chunky and I do not know if I like that. As for durance, all of them stay on all day with minor touch ups.

What do you enjoy at the moment? what are your favourite thinkgs right now?

oops, I did it again | Bride of Frankenstein Hair

Bride of Frankenstein Hair
Okay, yes I admit it, I said blonde would stay for a longer time and at least it did not change for something “crazy” like yellow, orange or the colour of a sunrise. But I could not keep my fingers off hair dye – I was even considering black, to be honest. But I was a bit too scared. However it is likely I’ll dye the mop black in a few weeks or months. At this moment I feel like keeping this exact do – the 20s bob anyway, because it’s my favourite cut ever.

Bride of Frankenstein Hair
Bride of Frankenstein Hair

Well, anyway back to the topic of colour. I wanted some Bride of Frankenstein Vibes (not only because Frankenstein is my favourite book), so I went for a dark brown with a strand of hair that I kept blonde (I have to get the roots touched up on the blond hair…). I know technicaly she has one strand on each side of her head, but I didn’t want that (also her hairdo is quite different). Therefore this is what I wanted and how it turned out. As you see it turned out a bit too light for me at first – I really liked the colour but it wasn’t what I wanted – so I had one week with a green-ish teddy brown and then went full on dark.

Bride of Frankenstein Hair
Bride of Frankenstein Hair

I am afraid I might hate myself in a couple of months for going dark again, but at the moment and for the last couple of months I did not feel at all like colourful hair. I have to mention, though, that I have been looking at pictures of my dark brown hair (which I had about two years ago) for months and I adored it – and I do now, so I am excited to see how I style it. I did actually wear a few easy hairdos in the last few days and think the white strand adds a lot. I also feel like wearing more gothic stuff (not neccessarily goth, but some 19th century gothic vibes), black really grew to me.

What is you hair colour at the moment? And what colour do you want next?

Blonde again.

Bob Cut 20s Blond Hair
I love being blonde. I love my bob cut. And I’m so glad it’s back. Within the last weeks my hair was more of a shoulder long pastel mess and while a lot of people (surprisingly) told me they like my hair and how I dyed it that way, I dreaded it in a way and way looking forward to my appointment at the hair dresser last Wednesday.

Bob Cut 20s Blonde Hair

Bob Cut 20s Blonde Hair

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed being able to do space buns and hair dos in general, but personally I do not really like long hair (and yes, not on me and not on most people – there are exceptions and you do you, but if you do not do fancy hair dos I don’t like long hair). I think short hair adds a lot of character to a person and makes faces more interesting, too. By now I’ve had a bob cut for about a year (with the longish hair interlude in the last weeks) and it feels perfect for me. I love not having hair bothering my neck, not weirdly hanging down, but being just long enough to try some curls.

Bob Cut 20s Blonde Hair Beret

I hope you don’t mind lots of outfits and photos with berets, because at the moment, they are my favourite thing to wear (and I’m sorry if I look like a pretentious faux French lady). Also, the whole 20s empowerment that bob cuts represent speaks a lot to me. Of course, my main inspiration was Miss Fisher (one of the best detective shows), a twenties femme fatale and even though I’m blonde I feel very empowered with my bob. It literally is the perfect hair cut for me to feel comfortable in (at least since last year, who knows, maybe I will be rocking waist long hair at 28).

Bob Cut 20s Blonde Hair Beret

Bob Cut 20s Blonde Hair Beret

You know I dye my hair quite often, usually I mention it on Instagram immediately and of course you see it in outfits and sometimes even in seperate posts. Still, I have to stay, blonde might be my favourite. If I had to choose one colour for the rest of my life it might indeed be blonde, even though I want some orange again next month. Someone once told me I’d look iconic with the short blond hair and the red lips and of course that was music to my ears. But it’s not just that, it feels so right, when I’m light blonde I never feel unhappy with my hair colour, I just want to try new colours (split-dye, blue, peach etc).

I sometimes miss the dark brown curls, but for now this is me, this is very much what I want to be and what I feel most comfortable with. I don’T want any change. Did you find your happy hair colour and cut yet?

Winter Favourites | a few things I like at the moment

winter favourites
It’s been ages since I blogged about my favourites, at least I feel like it has. While I would love to try sharing a few things every season this year, I’m pretty sure I won’t – I am that realistic. Anyway today I want to talk about the things I currently like a lot.

Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection
You might know that I got myself a Playstation back in late December and out of the three games I own, by far my favourite is Assassin’s Creed, I’m all through AC II and am now playing Brotherhood and I enjoy it a lot. For one, it’s set in Italy and I have been to most of the places the game features and love the little bits of the game that are in Italian. I think the period it is set in is very beautifully designed – just in general I like the graphics. As someone who is very pacifist in real life, it is interesting to see that I do not mind hurting people in the game. However, I have to say that I find the combination of violence and story pretty well executed, also I really love Ezio. The game in general makes me kind of happy.
Irregular Choice Artoo Glitzy Heel
We all knew the Artoo Heels, I showed you here would be part of this post – I did not wear them outside yet, because it rains a lot at the moment and because I’m waiting for Sole Protectors to arrive. Nevertheless I love looking at these shoes so much – and dreaming of wearing them.
Rotary Fabric Cutter
I think I mentioned before that I like watching Annika Victoria on YouTube and that she inspires me to buy less sweat-shop things (I hope to post about that soon), but of course it’s not only that but every now and then I pick up a tip when I watch her sewing and one of them was the rotary cutter, she uses that one in every single video and mentioned it in her sewing essentials video just recently. However, my grandma got me one (and a mat) for Christmas and I use it ever since. My regular scissor skills are comparable to a four year old kid, so that one really made me sewing a whole lot more enjoyable – and it’s so damn fast, too.
Hema Moisturising Lipstick in 11
Hema is a Dutch brand, there are stores here, but mainly in Northern Germany, so I asked my dear friend Lisa who lives in the Netherlands to bring me some the next time she was here. And this one is becoming one of my favourite lipsticks – it’s a very different colour, not only to the red I usually wear, but in general it’s a metallic dark pink and it’s gorgeous. Personally, I also like to wear blue and black lipstick sometimes, but I also love when a lipstick is special and somewhat neutral at the same time – and 11 of the Moisurising Lipsticks is just that. As for the quality – you get a whole lot for a cheap price, the texture is soft and stays on my lips for the entire day without being dry. It really is moisturising.
Brooches Ambrosia Bowl Alice Mulan Sabrina Elahi Leia
You know one thing I love getting is small buisness brooches and these three were ordered recently and I love the designs and craftsmanship. Leia will forever be my favourite princess and even though she is quite popular I had difficulties finding a novelty brooch – until I foung this one and I am so glad I did because it is so far from being just a repro of Carrie Fisher’s Face.
Same goes for Alice and Mulan, I like the way The Ambrosia Bowl takes scenes from the movies that are not being used all the time and then the fact that they are handpainted – I just love it.
Ziaja Goat's Milk Handcream
I talk about this handcream approx. every winter, because it is a great handcream. Firstly, it smells amazing like milk and cream, but it does a good job as well. The texture is not as creamy as usual and therefore the cream is absorbed by my dry skin within seconds – and if there is one thing I really dislike about most handcreams is being unable to anything because everything will have smudges afterwards. The cream can be applied whenever and it smoothens my skin in the short and long run.

Sweet & Easy – Enie Backt is a German Baking show with a host dressing very retro and baking cute, sweet things that are easy to make and just a little bit different. It really inspires me and I – maybe for the first time – feel like baking and the way she dresses is just as inspiring – novelty prints all the way. Also, a lot of her things are inspired by Scandinavian sweets, so that’s another great thing.

Hidden Figures was one of my favourite movies recently , see the review here. As well as A Cure For Wellness for those who prefer horror.

What things do you love at the moment?

colourful hair guide

hair guide blue hair colourful
As someone with colourful hair people on- and especially offline who does my hair, why I have it like that, what I use and of course what colours are upcoming. So I decided to show these things with you today.

hair colour red
split dye orange pink
Back in August I shared my hair story, but to give you a quick overview over the colourful hair dyes (aka not brown/blonde). I was red about three or four different times and I always liked it, nevertheless I always went back to blond/brown after red. By late 2015/early 2016 I started mixing things up myself – before my mum or the hair dresser had done it for me. I tried purple-ish, had the split-dye orange-pink and peach. Since this summer I change my hair colour about once a month, the current being blue with purple roots.

How I go
ConfettiBleaching
I visit the hair dresser about every two months to get my hair cut and roots bleached. I do not dare to bleach my hair on my own – I was really afraid before bleaching them for the first time, but apparently my hair is rather though. However some of it did break aftre bleaching them for the third time – I guess the main issue was that my hair was dyed (directions) before and there was a lot of jazz going on. It is growing back by now and you can barely see it. Obviously that is something you have to consider when bleaching your hair – even professionally and the more often you get your hair bleached the higher the risk. Also, while my hair is easy to maintain, some people do get frizzy hair from bleaching. So keep that in mind – it is only hair after all.
hair colouring
Colouring
Usually I go like this: I have the blonde for a month and then put the colour on my hair. I do have the plan for the next hair colour about one or two months before I do the colouring, so I’m pretty sure I will not regret it. After washing and (blow)drying my hair I start with my fringe section (I wear gloves and do it by hand, I prefer that over a hair colour brush) and then part my hair in the middle and do one side and then the other one. Then I continue to the back of my head and eventually do my tips again, because they tend to get little to now colour. Next I just put the stuff I have left in my little mixing bowl on my head, trying to cover spots I missed and just put another layer on top. Last I put up my hair, it usually sticks together because it’s short and full of hair dye and wrap some tin foil around my head (to get lost in conspiracy theories obvs). Usually I let my hair colour sit in my hair for half an hour or one. I don’t usually touch up my hair within the month, because I’ve always like the way the colours wash out. However you can definetly apply another layer or another colour on top – preferrably something that has a similar colour scheme or is darker. Don’t jump from dark blue to yellow, but go from blue to purple or waist until it washes out completely.

Some upcoming plans and inspiration
hair colour purple
My decision on my next hair colour is based on a few things – Instagram usually gives me a lot of inspiration, not only people but also drawings. But, I’m not limited to online inspiration, it’s also when I see someone on the street or just think of a colour – the split-dye was purely made up by me (even though people did that combination before I did not know of that). The blue however was inspired by someone telling me “oh you should dye your hair blue next”, not only because someone asked me, but that was one of the reasons. Maybe if you want to change your hair every once in a while, just keep a list/screenshots to remind you of them. I really want to try yellow this year and a greyish-pink mix, but I would also love a darker pink – which is with the blue already on my hair probably the easiest to do. Also, I want to go back to blonde again, like the one I had in Prague, but we will see…

What I use
Directions Hair Dye Colour Carnation Pink Lagoon Blue
As I mentioned I do not bleach my hair at home, so I can only recommend hair dyes. I did use elumen by Goldwell the first time I had red hair, however I’m pretty sure they test on animals, so I would not buy their stuff again. Besides that it stayed in my hair forever – there was no way of getting that stuff out other than by dyeing my hair brown. i also tried Manic Panic ones, but I barely got any colour out of that (might have been do to the fact that I had not bleaches my hair, but it was a light colour, so…). Ever since then I only use directions, mainly the blue and pink tones and I was never disappointed. BlueBanana sent me Carnation Pink and Lagoon Blue – Lagoon Blue is my current colour. I actually ordered from BlueBanana before (via amazon), because they sell directions for a really good price, but they also sell cute fandom stuff. So in case you look for directions, I would really recommend their website. You can mix and match directions and it works pretty well, e.g. for the peach I made a mix of Mandarin, Flamingo Pink (and Revlon Nutri Color 004 my hair dresser gave me) and conditioner. You can basically use every kind of conditioner that is white and creamy. If your hair is light blonde the colour you mix wil be the one you end up with, might be a little lighter, because cream usually looks a bit darker than hair.
My favourite Directions are Lagoon Blue and Mandarin, but the pinks are high quality as well.

Taking care
Peach Hair
To be honest I am not a hair care person. Not at all, I use conditioner only to make my hairdye lighter and masks and stuff only about every two months. So, I have to say, I am lucky that I’m blessed with tough hair. However I do one thing: I only wash my hair about once a week, only every 5-7 days that keeps my colour intense and is good for my hair, I think. I do also use heat – to get my bob and when I do curls (I have a weird/good curling routine, I might share that). The colours do fade and I know some people include a bit of their dye into the conditioner they usually go for and I think that’s pretty smart. If you’re a person to use masks, why not do that once a week while reading or doing stuff, just keep it in longer than usual. Directions themselves are not in any way bad for the hair, they are said to be a bit like Conditioner and I think.

How to dare it
Blue Hair
Now to the most interesting part for you, I guess, how to take the plunge. For bleaching, go to a good hair dresser, usually they know what they are doing and your hair will not break. However, you should be okay with getting rid of a few cms/inches due to fraying. Personally, I don’t have a big problem with fraying (again, I am lucky!), but depending on your hair type it might fray. For colours, if you are really unsure about it, try a wig, there are good ones for 20 € – now that I own a few wigs, I could see me wearing the natural ones just for a day. With something to wear on your head – scarfes, flowers, hats you can make most of them look pretty natural. When your job restrictions keep you from changing your hair colour, a wig can be a good solution – whether you wear one at your job or in your private life. If you go for your first colour, maybe start with orange, red or pink tones, they seem to be more accepted by society by now, especially when toned down a bit. Purple, green and blue are much more noticeable, so it’s great if you start out with that, but it is also fun to start with a subdued pink. But, to be honest, it is up to yourself and only you can do this decision, just keep in mind that your hair will grow back/out and you can rather easily wash out Directions or dye over them if you do not like it. Just buy a natural tone with the bright colour you choose and you’re on the save side. Also, consider this – if you don’t like the way your skin looks in a certain colour, it might not be the best colour to dye your hair (that’s why I stray from green).
Blue Hair
People are nicer than you might think, actually, last weekend when I went shopping with my mum about five people came up to me telling me they liked my hair and sharing stories. Recently a man told me I had the hair colour of a witch – I do not know whether or not that was supposed to be an insult. Personally I think witches are great, back in the day witches were just women with a lot of medical knowlegde (regular people were afraid of), so who wouldn’t wanna be that? However, people can be unfriendly and insulting and even though I have near to no experiences like that, I wanted to tell you. It is of course an issue of confidence, but to be honest exciting hair colours/cuts do push your confidence a lot and it does help feeling better about yourself. So if you wanted to dye your hair in whatever colour for quite some time, just do it and rock it!

What is your current or dream haircolour?

BlueBanana did sent me directions in Lagoon Blue and Carnation Pink, their was no sponsorship whatsoever included, all of the opinions stated are mine. However the link to the website an Affiliate Link.

Mail Day #7 | Novelties, Cutsy Stuff and Fandom Things

It’s been about a month and Christmas is coming, so I made a few orders again and this is kind of an November wrap up.

sleek Whimsical Wonderland
sleek Whimsical Wonderland
sleek Whimsical Wonderland
sleek Whimsical Wonderland
I had a sleek palette in my last mail day and I love it. The colours are intense and beautiful, especially when you consider the prize. This one here also got me because of the packaging, it’s pastel, wonderland and fair themed, so I had to look at the eyeshadow colours and they are so incredibly beautiful. Very bright and colourful. Teacups and Loop-The-Loop are so incredibly beautiful – but I have a thing for red eyeshadows anyway. But the blue tones are really cute as well.

Dollskill Tights
I ordered from DollsKill before, but this time I had to pick it up at the customs and had to pay. Kind of tragic, but I had to order a gift for my best friend, so since it was here in time, I’m okay. For myself I got some (I wanna write fetch) tights with vertical stripes – will wear them soon in an outfit post.

Dollskill Glitter
I also got myself some facial glitter, for my taste 10 $ is a bit expensive for that bit of glitter, but it’s so beautiful. It’s In Your Dreams in Pink Pegasus and they are cruelty free, so yeah!

For my Mia Wallace Cosplay I needed a black wig and I wasn’t sure about where to get one. Eventually I went on etsy and found one on Wicked Wigs and it’s silky and beautiful!

kate gabrielle
This time it’s only ordering from shops I ordered from before and one of them is kate gabrielle, with her amazing flapper and feminist designs.

For myself I got the Dinosaurs eat man, woman inherits the earth patch, a great Jurassic Park reference and a beautiful patch. With it came a Mystery Pin – also Jurassic Park themed and isn’t it amazing?

For my childhood best friend, whom I have practically know forever, I got the BFF Best Friend pendant set. I thought it fitting, since we have been friends as kids, playing all these games.

Pusheen Mystery Box
Pusheen Mystery Box
On pixielocks’ YouTube Channel I saw the adorable Pusheen Mystery Boxes, so I decided to get two of them. Eventually I got the same one twice, but so I can give it to someone as a little gift. And it’s the one, I wanted most, so that’s amazing!

deer arrow
deer arrow doe
I’ve known deer arrow for quite some time and there Christmas Brooches last year were amazing and so are the ones this year, so I decided to get the Baby Doe, such a cute little one.

deer arrow ouija
Besides this one, I was also very keen on the Ouija Brooch with the beautiful iridescent shine and I decided to get it along with this one.

deer arrow ice cream
deer arrow snowflake
For a friend I got the Sundae Pin, a very cute thing and it qualified me to get the beautiful Snowflake, too.

What are your favourite small buisnesses? And where do you get pins and brooches?

Handmade Update October (+ New Hair)

This month it took me some time to get into sewing again – but then again I was away for a few days and I tend to get ito a power sewing mode when I start. So I made a few autumnal things.

Plaid Pinafore
Plaid Pinafore
16th of October
So, Pinafores are my new thing. They look like something a four year old would wear especially with a novelty print, but I also love plaid. So this is my first plaid skirt and I had to add something special, so I turned it into my first pinafore with cute buttons and a little fron pocke. I really love the fabric, it’s soft and the colours are beautiful.

Acorn Pinafore
Acorn Pinafore
17th of October
This is a fabric I found in Ulm and I really like it. This pinafore is just as autumnal as the one above. And why do I love making pinafores? They are so easy to make, you wouldn’t actually need any knowledge about sewing and I think about making a little tutorial soon.

Cat Pinafore
Cat Pinafore
17/18th of October
Like the last one I found it in Ulm and I think it’s so cute (and probably more appropriate for a toddler) so it had to be made into pinafore no. 3.

Plaid Skirt Mum
Plaid Skirt for Mum
19th of October
For her birthday I gave my mum a voucher for a skirt, so we were looking for a fabric and found that one – it’s perfect for autumn and winter as it is quite cosy and warm. As it is inspired by a Grace Q skirt, I made the waistband a little different and added a few loops for a belt.

Plaid Shirtdress Pencilskirt
Plaid Shirtdress with a Pencilskirt
19th-21st of October
I bought enough of the plaid fabric to make a dress as well. You know, I mainly wear wide skirts, but sometimes I like something a little tight – even though I don’t think it’s a flattering, still I really like the outcome, it reminds me of Joan (Mad Men), but it was not inspired by her, but by a few collectif dresses – even though I changed it quite a bit and just made my own pattern. I was also looking for buttons that were a small version of the ones on the pinafore and I found some – all of the other buttons are old ones I found at home.

Harlequin Top
Harlequin Croptop
23rd, 24th, 28th of October
Actually I had something different in mind for Halloween, but I decided to go for a sort of doll/marionette/revue dancer and I think the corset thing was quite a good idea.

Peach Hair
Way to Peach Hair
I also changed my hair colour on the 20th, I’m quite happy with the result now, but at first it was a bit to pink. And even though I think that was very pretty, it just wasn’t what I was looking for. So I did two cleaning washes and created a new colour, based on directions flamingo pink, mandarin and revlon 004 peach as well as an alverde conditioner to end up with a cute peach tone.

What did you sew this month and what are you working on now?

my favourite autumn lipsticks

My favourite autumn lipsticks
Actually I don’t categorize lipsticks by season, I wear them no matter what season. But those happen to be the lipsticks I like just at the moment and it happens to be autumn. And since my favourite at the moment lipsticks doesn’t sound that good, I went for autumn.

wet'n'wild Mega Last Lip Color in 903C Just Peachy
wet'n'wild Mega Last Lip Color in 903C Just Peachy
wet’n’wild Mega Last Lip Color in 903C Just Peachy
Let me be honest I love the wet’n’wild lipsticks, they are high quality at a low price. The lipstick is easily applied and opaque with one stroke. I don’t even need a lipliner as it doesn’t fray at all. It stays on my lips for a whole day yet is easily removeable still it is still on my lips after eating greasy food. The peach looks beautiful and I think it would look awesome on almost any skintype. It’s a matte lipstick that is smoothly applied.

wet'n'wild Mega Last Lip Color in 907C Mauve Outta Here
wet’n’wild Mega Last Lip Color in 907C Mauve Outta Here
Application and lasting vise it’s same as with the one above, though I think it looks slightly better and smoother after being applied. The colour is a bit darker than my lips, so it looks quite natural and every once in a while I like that.

Bésame Classic Color Lipstick in C208 Bésame RED
Bésame Classic Color Lipstick in C208 Bésame RED
Bésame Classic Color Lipstick in C208 Bésame RED
The packaging of this lipstick is everything – from the little paperbox to the velvet sachet and the beautiful golden bullet. Appliance is amazing, very soft and creamy. I use lipliner before so it doees not fray, but with some liner it works really well. It’s abit shiny at first, that wears off after a while, though. In general it looses not only shine, but also colour after a while and has to be reaplied after eating. The red itself is very classic and beautiful. It’s titled 1920s red, but it works well as a 50s colour as well.
Sleek’s Vixen is quite a good dupe, it’s shiny as well, the package is not as gorgeous and it frays a bit, but it’s a lot cheeper.

Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick in Electric Amethyst
Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick in Electric Amethyst
Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick in Electric Amethyst
Personally I think the packaging looks a bit cheap, but I love the name. Before applying it I don’t use lipliner as I don’t really need it with that lipstick. It’s a matte formula that doesn’t fray. The downside is the opacity as it needs to be reapplied quite often and doesn’t really colour the lips for a long time, so you need more than one coat, but fortunately that does not look cakey. The colour itself is a cool-toned lilac with subdued glitter and it looks great and different yet it does make my teeth appear rather yellow-ish.

The great thing about that Lipstick is that a lipliner is already included, the not so great thing is that it gets a bit blurry around this lips after a while anyway. Other than that the application is fairly easy. It’s a creamy formulation that is pleasant on the lips and a really beautiful dark berry tone but it really has to be reapplied after meals. The lipstick does not dry my lips, but it stains them, so lips have to be cleaned really well when you want to remove the lipstick. It’s a not really shiny but neither is it matte, so the finish is very pretty.

I think everyone who is into cruelty-free beauty, pin up fashion or a bit priecier cosmetic knows theBalm – and rightfully so, their packaging alone is amazing. It’s a bit like benefit, but with out testing on animals. and let me tell you, the Matt Hughes on the packaging is such a cutie. Now, I love applying it, it smells pretty cool and tingles a bit on the lips. It’s a matte lipstick and stays on the lips forever without lipliner or fraying. It doesn’t even disperse in the middle of the lips like other liquids often do or dry the lips. I really love the colour as well, it’s kind of a different red, a bit purple-ish.

Autumnal Clothing & Glittery Makeup Haul

Long time no see… Last week I have been to Italy and I got a few things in Meran – some that I actually needed, other things I did not really. The wet’n’wild things as well as the sleek things are not from Meran though, but I ordered them while I was still at home (the eyeshadow palette is actually from a drugstore – yay, sleek in Germany!). Anyway, everything is either glittery or fit for autumn, so let’S have a look.

Makeup

Sleek
Sleek Palettes
I was so excited to hear that sleek was actually available in Germany now, that I just had to have a look at the counter. After hearing so many good things about their eyeshadows, I was thinking about getting an i-Divine Palette. On amazon I was enchanted (ha ha) by a few of the palettes, but especially Enchanted Forest. Not only because of the name, but the colours are simply beautiful (as s the whole design). I did not use all of them yet, but I do plan on doing so. they are very pigmented and I really love Pumpkin and Lady Tremaine.

After ordering the Solstice Highlighting Palette I was informed that it is very hyped. Well, That explains why I could not get it at the store. Hemisphere is my go-to highlighter at the moment, so shimmery and amazing, but I have to use more of them soon.

wet’n’wild
wet'n'wild Glitter
I’m a big fan of wet’n’wild lipsticks, they are highly pigmented and don’t fray, but I also love the colouricon Glitter Singles. I got Bleached, Brass and Groupie in New York, but I had to get them again – as well as the other colours. Well, that’s life as a pixie princess. The other colours are Spiked, Binge, Vices and Distortion.

Kiko
Kiko
Of course, I get kiko products here as well, but it’s different nevertheless to go to an Italian kiko store.

Kiko Eyeshadow
Most of my daily basis eyeshadows are from kiko, but even though I usually go for pinks, red, violetts and oranges, I do not have a lilac toned one. This one is the High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow in 24 (link) and as always the pigmentation is awesome.

Kiko Glitter
The Glitter Eyeliner in 01 (Link) is something I rebuy very often, but I did not test the Glitter Top Coat Mascara (Link) and since it was on sale…

Kiko Eyeliner
Recently I try to incoporate more colourful eyeshadows in my makeup, the Lasting Precision Automatic Eyeliner And Khôl in 02 (Link) is something to match my redbased EMUs and the Sparkling Trail Eyeshadow in 05 (Link) just got my attention instantly, such a beautiful blue that flatters my eyecolour.

Kiko Swatches

omnia peeling
omia
I did not know this brand beforehand, but they don’t test on animals and I like a good peeling or mask in a tube, so it’s at least a little less waste.

Book

The Siren by Kiera Cass
Kiera Cass - The Siren
I did not read The Selection by Kiera Cass, but The Siren gripped my attention. I got it at my favourtie bookstore (in Meran and I think in general), Alte Mühle. Then I read it within about two days and really enjoyed it even though the ending was very cliché in my opinion.

Clothing

Calzedonia
calzedonia
Same as with kiko, it’s different in Italy. Since I love wearing socks that are a bit different with pretty shoes + calzedonia was having a sale, we got a quite a few socks.

calzedonia
This colour matches a lot of my wardrobe and it’s just such an autumnal colour… Also it’s adorable with the little bow (they are called appl. bow bordeaux).

calzedonia
Calzedonia tights are great, I have a few of their tights and they practically last forever while being soft and cosy, but not too warm either. And the colour, marsala, matches one of my dresses literally perfectly.

calzedonia
The col. righe glitter vinaccia socks are about the same bordeaux as the first pair, but they have additional glitter!

calzedonia
Yes, yes, glitter socks (and shoes) are quite the guily pleasure of mine, the glitter cipria socks look amazing especially with dark shoes, such a pretty little highlight.

calzedonia
Of course, the fantasmi nero socks are just as much of a highlight. I mean, come on, little ghosts wearing jack o’lanterns. Yes, please. That’s amazing.

tezenis
Tezenis Leggins
I don’t tend to buy sports clothing (or trousers) very often, but I saw these beautiful leggins and considered them perfect for yoga, so they are basically yoga pants.

promod
Promod Shirt Blouse
This blouse with the little dots and velvet ribbons (Link) has such a midcentury vibe to me and I really love wearing it, it looks great with warm and cold colours

promod blouson
The blouson with the japanese print (Link) caught my attention instantly, but I wasn’t sure about whether I should get it or not, but eventually I was so in love with the print and I wear it rather often.

What do you think of sleek and do you get the feeling it’s different to shop in a differnt country?

I wanted to write this post for about a year, basically since I had my pixie cut. Still, somehow I did not write that post, only sad little segments, but today I finally decided it was time to write this post. I included a few funnypictures of my hair during the years, colour, cut, everything. I guess now is a good time because I just recently coloured my hair (how I did it and what I used will be explained down below). This is also the first time you will see some pre-blog pictures of me, though I only have two here on the notebook, I included both of them – and please bare with terrible eyebrows! ;)

During the years I had all sorts of hairstyles, colours and routines. In fifth grade I choped my hip-length hair off, first shoulder length, than everything-5-cms-length (I looked like a hamster and it was not flattering, especially when growing out). Actually I always wanted curls, preferably red ones (Merida curls, to be accurate) – as a kid I did have blond curls, but growing up, cutting my hair – the curls faded and left sad waves.
I think the best hairstory I can tell is one when I was in kindergarten (or maybe first/second grade). It was carnival time and my best friend, his brother and I ate crullers (we call them “Krapfen” and they are basically doughnuts without a whole but instead filled with yam, chocolate cream etc.) filled with apricot jam. Yeah, I still remember which jam. Awkward as always, I somehow managed to get jam in my hair. And I didn’t want to tell my mum, so I just took a pair of scissors and cut of the jam-part of my hair. Of course, my mum didn’t realise my new fringe at all. In a way I feel like I might sstil do that today and only later realise how much more obvious that is. Of course, we had to go to the hair dresser and fix my terrible little experiment eventually.

A few years forward. My hair was growing and growing to a length below my boobs or about my waist, I don’t know anymore – I finally decided it was time for real red hair. I’ve had a few semi-permanent hair colours before, but that, now, was when I really wanted something new (here is the german post). So, I got myself red elumen and let my mum do the work. It was amazing red Ariel hair! I stuck with this for quite some time until I let it grow out and had terrible roots, thinking for some time I would go back to my natural hair colour. In general I was inspired by Doris Day with the a-bit-longer-than-chin length and fringe, but growing out it was more like Chuck Charles (my all time favourite fashion icon). Yes, I always had a fringe or was growing one out.

As we all know, I did not – I got into pin up (some styles seen above with redish hair) and dyed my hair dark brown and ended up with a fringe. Some days, now, I still long for those shiny brown curls. These pictures are some of my favourite hair pictures of mine. I was able to do quite a few retro hairstyle and I loved it.

But, of course, I got bored after a while, I cannot stick with one hair thing forever, I wanted my hair to be short again. Obviously without looking like a hamster. At this time I was into Once Upon A Time a lot, and I loved Ginnifer Goodwin as Mary Margaret, so the obvious thing to do was cutting my hair like that – after all it was drk brown already. I still remember having it done on the last day of school (11th grade), I still really like those photos, but I also remember all the trouble I had with the fringe.
During this time I found so many ispirational women with pixie cuts and it was so wonderful to see how they styled it and the self-esteem boost it really does give you. Seriously, if you dare to, try it, it’s weird some days and especially in the beginning, but so wonderful as well. Naturally my main inspiration was Ginnifer, but also Audrey Hepburn and this girl (though I’m too goofy and sarastic to appear like a magical fairy princess), but also Felicia Day, even though she did not have her pixie anymore by then, but she shared this article once.

Then, from mid of Novemeber on, I had this red, sometimes pinkish, hair, that turned purple in February. Eventually I did not wear my fringe side-swept anymore, the hair colour looked really dirty some days and very beautiful and purple on other days, but I always had violett eybrows as well and I just love matching my brows to my hair. To cope with the growing out, I watched a lot of videos, I will link down below, but actually I mainly wore a pompadour when I did not want to wash my hair yet, a faux beehive once or twice and some space buns until I got into curls again.
If you want to grow out a pixie, have a look at this or this.

So, without any cut at all, I just dealt with the former pixie cut and wore it as pink/purple curls.

Not able to stick with anything at all, I needed some change again and being the professinal fangirl that I am, I drew my inspiration from fictional characters once more. This time, Ms Phryne Fisher and Mia Wallace as well as Iona from Pretty in Pink (she’s everything, I love her versatility fashion-vise). So the decision was made and I got a white-blonde 20s bob. I was lucky and my hair was not terribly dry or anything. I guess, my hair is just very strong. Or something like that… Anyway, that was so much fun, but just planned as the base for colours, but I stuck with it for almost three months and I guess I will have some blonde bob weeks in the future, too. As with the pixie cut, I wanted a real statement hair cut, something that is always the same, but in a good way. I have no problem with long hair, I think it looks beautiful on some people, but I think if you’re not into updos and hair styles or colours in general it’s plain boring. And even though I love both coours and styles, I wanted a cut that would be the same every day in a way. Like characters in movies who always have the same hair style (Mia Wallace, Phryne Fisher…), back with the white hair and red lips someone even said I’d look iconic and you know, in a way that’s wat I strive for. I don’t want to be an icon or something like that, but having an iconic look – even though it changed from time to time and isn’t always the same – just like Iona. And here is an interesting post about women who cut their hair short in the 20s.

So, as I mentioned I wanted to colour my hair when I got it bleached and I already had my colours in mind, I wanted a half and half like Melanie Martinez, but orange and pink. I used Directions (as I usually do), the orange is Mandarin and the pink Flamingo Pink. If I stick with it, I might post a colouring/maintenance routine one day and talk about how the colours fade. N ow they are very bright and look a whole lot like text markers! I’m especially loving the orange, so beautiful and the colours work great with my eyes. Actually, orange was never really on my hair colour agenda, sure, I follow some girls with amazing orange hair on Instagram, but I was never really feeling the need to have orange hair and now with one half orange, I really want a whole orange look (like in the 5th element which I still haven’t seen yet!), but I’m also craving peachy hair. For now, I will stick with that for at least three weeks when I get my roots touched up. While I had Flamingo Pink before (on top of red and blue, so it was purple), I have no idea how long it will take the orange to wash out. I hope it will barely fade though!
I’m incredibly happy with my hair cut and colour and I’m so excited to wear flowers again and see what will come up next for my hair.

What is your current hair colour and what is your dream colour? With so many possibilities out there, why don’t you give it a try?
